The museum looked more like a castle, with all those towers and a dome glowing in the darkness. The “Castle” walls were decorated with different sculptures in ancient style. Definitely, this museum itself was a masterpiece of art.
In that late peaceful night it was closed though. Despite of it, there was a suspicious off-road car in the parking lot.
A figure in the street crossed the road from the old theater gates to the car carrying a backpack. It was walker #84987. When the car door opened, he dropped the bag into one of the seats, next to #100161 – she was handling tech while he was absent – and sat at the driver’s place, alongside making the music on the player louder. “Spectre” from Origin EP by Alan Walker filled the air with its magical melody.
“Already back?” She wasn’t expecting him to return so quickly.
They were going to get into the museum for an artifact ordered by professor Babić.
“I just looked around and brought some snacks.” He pulled out two packs of potato chips from his bag.
“You read my mind!” She smiled. They started eating, exchanging little jokes, laughing and having fun. Even though they lived a dangerous life, they would never complain. They had everything they needed: a car – roof above their heads, music playing, a powerful online community of friends always ready to help and a hope for a different world that walkers would build someday, after defeating the Red Nexus.
“So what about the museum? You said you looked around.”
“The museum is closed, the security is good, but quite easy to break I guess. There’s nothing alive in the building, hmm, maybe except of ghosts. It seems pretty scary, doesn’t it?” Walker #84987 looked at his friend hoping to scare her a little bit.
“Abdo, it’s not funny, and ghosts aren’t alive anyways,” she said, her pack was already empty and she was working on an old laptop the two used for coding and hacking purposes. “Look, I found a way to connect it.”
“Wow, well done! Now I just need to freeze the security system, they won’t even notice.”
“Too easy, don’t you think?”
“Actually, I need at least 5 minutes for that, so be patient.”
“The disk in the Walker Exhibition in there differs from everything I’ve seen before,” #100161 was murmuring to herself, studying the ordered artifact from a book.
“Wait, isn’t it another prophecy disk from the Son Doong cave?”
“It doesn’t look like a prophecy disk. It is way bigger, heavier and it has more unfamiliar symbols. Looks more like tech. The only artifact from the walkers exhibition, contributed to this museum in 2014. The legend says this disk was used by the ancient walkers to power The Spectre. They called it the Sun disk.”
“That thing which they used to predict the future? There were times you used to talk about it constantly, remember?”
“Yes, when this theory was first proposed by professor Zoran Babić a month ago.” She admitted. “It really fascinates me.”
“It is your job, you are a researcher, one of the best I know. So what do you think of this Sun disk?” He would always comfort her that such an obsession with ancient artifacts is normal.
“It is just a myth, we don’t have any evidence to prove this theory and the disk itself doesn’t have anything significant. I have no idea how it would help for the Honk Kong mission and why we were ordered to steal it from the high security museum.”
“Eko, remember? Anything for walkers.” He reminded. The words’ effect was strengthened by “Don’t you hold me down” from Walkers Racing League as the background sound. “We are doing it for the walkers and to finally take down the Red Nexus corporation.”
“You are right. I am just curious, you know, now I need to know what this disk has to do with the SMTS mission.”
“Soon we’ll find out. Almost done.” #84987 said, typing on his laptop.
#100161 was observing the radar screen, suddenly a red dot appeared there inside the building.
“Done.”
“Let’s go.”
The car door slammed as they left, the player inside the car was still on, bursting with the last seconds of DYHMD. The laptop wasn’t turned off either. All of a sudden a message popped up on the screen that read:
“Guys, I know, you are on the other side of the world right now and got way more serious things to work on, but we have just discovered something really big and unbelievable! You need to see this. – #153330”.
